Live-Action Pinocchio in the works

IT SEEMS Disney is cashing in on the success of it's most recent live-action remake, Cinderella, which was released in the UK at the start of this month. It has now been reported that Pinocchio is also in the running to be given a 21st century makeover. Deadline Hollywood states that the film is set to be penned by Peter Hedges (About a Boy, The Odd Life of Timothy Green) but no release date has been given for the revamp of the 1940 classic.

This is only one of the long line of recently reported Disney live-action remakes. It appears to have been sparked by the success of Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland remake in 2010 which has created a chain reaction of retellings including: Snow White and the Huntsman (2012, produced by Universal rather than Disney), Maleficient (2014), Cinderella (2015) and future releases The Jungle Book (2016), Alice in Wonderland: Through the Looking Glass (2016) and Beauty and the Beast (2017). More recent rumors have also suggested that there are to be live-action remakes of Mulan, Winnie the Pooh and Dumbo with Tim Burton allegedly on-board to direct.

Here is the trailer for the new Cinderella starring Cate Blanchett, Helena Bonham-Carter and Lily James if you are yet to see it.
